Oman has extended the validity of its residence cards to 10 years, enhancing the previous limit of three years, as reported by media citing the Royal Oman Police. Cardholders are required to renew their residency within 30 days of issuance.
This update targets specific categories and regulations set by the Director General, as highlighted by reports. The amendment is part of Decision 157/2025, which alters certain aspects of the Executive Regulations of the Civil Status Law.
The annual fee for the residency card is 5 Omani riyals. Should a replacement card be needed, the cost increases to 20 Omani riyals.

Previously, Oman introduced a visa amnesty program effective until December 31, 2025. This initiative allows visa violators to regularize their status and pay off fines.
The Royal Oman Police provided clarifications about the program:
-
Foreign nationals who wish to correct their status by renewing residence permits or changing employment within Oman will be exempt from all fines due to expired entry or residence permits (for work residence permit holders), subject to status correction verification by the Ministry of Labour.
-
Foreign nationals intending to permanently depart Oman will be exempt from all fines related to the expiration of any non-work-related visas.
