Orascom Construction, a prominent global engineering and construction contractor, began trading on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) on Thursday.
This marks the third company to join the ADX in 2025, showcasing the exchange’s dedication to enhancing market accessibility and fostering growth through a dynamic and transparent marketplace, backed by a strong capital market platform and diverse participants.
ADX is committed to supporting the UAE’s economic growth and diversification, providing Orascom Construction with access to growth capital, a broad investor base, and an ecosystem that facilitates capital raising and success.
Abdulla Salem Alnuaimi, ADX’s Group CEO, stated: “Orascom Construction’s listing is a significant addition, enriching market depth and offering investors new opportunities in the region’s development. By welcoming a leader in infrastructure, we broaden investment options, especially in long-term infrastructure and energy sectors. This move complements ADX’s diverse 12-sector offering, which includes financial services, healthcare, technology, and more. This diversity demonstrates the strength of listed companies, which saw the highest GCC exchange profitability in H1 2025, with net profits up 15.6% year-on-year to Dh88 billion. ADX is dedicated to fulfilling investor aspirations and solidifying Abu Dhabi’s status as a global financial center.”
Osama Bishai, CEO of Orascom Construction, remarked: “We are excited to start trading on ADX. As an active player in Abu Dhabi’s construction and infrastructure sectors, we aim to extend our track record of major projects and investments to new and existing shareholders. This is our first step in restructuring to enhance our construction and infrastructure investments. Our focus remains on long-term value creation, and this milestone strengthens our platform as we pursue our growth strategy.”
Orascom Construction focuses on infrastructure, industrial, and high-end commercial projects in the Middle East, Africa, and the U.S. The company also develops and invests in concessions, owns 50% of BESIX Group, and has a portfolio in building materials, facility management, and equipment services. The group is a top global contractor with a secondary listing on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX).
In H1 2025, Orascom Construction reported a consolidated backlog of $9.6 billion, $2 billion in revenue, and a net profit of $82.7 million. Since its IPO in March 2025, the company has returned over $300 million to shareholders via dividends and buybacks, with consistent dividends since 2018. Total dividends have risen 20.7% year-on-year in 2025 to $51.8 million.
With a market capitalisation of Dh3 trillion, ADX is a reliable platform for investing in Abu Dhabi’s capital markets. The exchange has led GCC returns and outperformed the MSCI Emerging Markets Index in the past decade and global benchmarks over the last 20 years.
