PCB Files Complaint Against Arshdeep Singh

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged a complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) against Arshdeep Singh, India’s top T20I wicket-taker. The complaint concerns Arshdeep’s ‘obscene gesture’ during the high-profile match between India and Pakistan on September 21 in Dubai, as reported by Samaa TV.

Before the final showdown between India and Pakistan on Sunday, the PCB urged the ICC to take action against Arshdeep following India’s six-wicket triumph over Pakistan in the Super Fours. The complaint accuses the left-arm pacer of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct by making inappropriate gestures towards the crowd.

The PCB’s statement highlighted that Arshdeep’s behavior tarnished the reputation of cricket. They have called on the ICC to enforce strict penalties, adhering to the disciplinary measures for breaches of the Code of Conduct, as per Samaa TV.

Prior to the complaint against Arshdeep, the PCB had filed two complaints with the ICC against Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav. The issues arose from Suryakumar’s comments after the September 14 group-stage game, which the PCB claims politicized the Pahalgam incident.

“Perfect occasion, taking the time out, we stand by the families of the Pahalgam terror attack victims. We express our solidarity. We dedicate the win to our armed forces, who showed immense courage. We hope they continue to inspire us and we provide more reasons to make them smile,” Suryakumar stated post-victory.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Suryakumar was found guilty by the ICC of breaching the code of conduct due to his Pahalgam comment. Although he pleaded not guilty, ICC match referee Richie Richardson dismissed the plea. Like the Pakistani pacer, Suryakumar faced a 30% match fee fine.

The report further mentioned that Pakistan’s Haris Rauf was fined, while batter Sahibzada Farhan was warned for his celebratory gesture during the Super Fours match. Rauf was guilty of “abusive language,” and Farhan performed a gun-shot celebration after reaching his fifty in the first innings.
