Pelosi sparked controversy again after she posted a short five-second video on her account on the “X” platform, in which she appeared breaking a symbolic crown during her participation in a “No Kings” protest in America. The video, posted on Sunday, October 19, garnered more than 1.4 million views and was accompanied by the phrase: “No crown, no kings.” This incident continues Pelosi’s style of sending bold symbolic messages. In 2020, when she was the Speaker of the House, she famously tore up a copy of Trump’s State of the Union address immediately after he finished his speech in the chamber.
Although Pelosi intended to send a symbolic message against autocracy by breaking the crown, the video sparked a wave of angry reactions on the internet. Supporters view her action as a strong symbolic stance, while opponents see it as an inappropriate political display.
