Prince Khalid bin Salman published a new tweet on his official ‘X’ account this Wednesday evening, confirming that he had a phone call with his American counterpart. They discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and opportunities to develop them within the framework of the strategic defense partnership. The ministers reviewed efforts to achieve security and stability in the region and the world, and their discussions included several matters of mutual interest.
It is noted that on February 16, it was announced that he had a phone discussion with the new U.S. Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, about opportunities to enhance strategic defense cooperation. The Saudi Defense Minister, in a message published on the ‘X’ platform at that time, indicated that they discussed during the phone conversation ‘opportunities to enhance strategic defense cooperation and efforts to promote international peace and security.’ He noted that he congratulated him on his appointment as Secretary of Defense.
Meanwhile, Saudi media, quoting Pentagon spokesman John Ullyot, reported that the officials confirmed during the phone conversation ‘the existence of an important defense partnership between the United States and Saudi Arabia.’ Ullyot added, according to what those media reported, that ‘the minister welcomed Saudi Arabia’s contributions to regional security and called for continued cooperation on common issues. They agreed to stay in touch and coordinate their actions closely in areas of mutual interest.’
