Protests erupted in the occupied city of Jerusalem, with demonstrators setting fires in the street near the residence of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to the Times of Israel. The newspaper noted that protesters fortified themselves on the roof of the National Library, while a protest march headed to the city center to continue the demonstrations. Authorities attempted to prevent them from blocking Highway 1 amid warnings of escalating protests.

Israel has been continuing its war on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023. The Netanyahu government rejects all mediation attempts and refuses to respond to internal demands to negotiate a deal for the release of Israeli prisoners held by the resistance.

From October 7, 2023, until September 2 of the current year, the conflict in Gaza has resulted in the deaths of approximately 64,000 Palestinians and about 161,000 injuries, according to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.
