Washington – Sputnik. According to the network, the text of the message stated: “By protecting the innocence of these children, you are not only serving Russia, but all of humanity. Such a bold idea transcends all human divisions, and you, Mr. Putin, it’s time.” Earlier, Western media, citing White House officials, reported that Trump personally delivered a message from Melania to Putin. The day before yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump held talks in Alaska, where the two leaders met at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base. Their closed talks, conducted in a “three-on-three” format, lasted for two hours and 45 minutes. The Russian side consisted of Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov, while the American side included Foreign Minister Marco Rubio and the President’s Special Representative Steve Whitkov. Putin and Trump described the talks as “fruitful and constructive,” announcing that they had made progress on many issues. Meanwhile, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev confirmed that the Putin-Trump summit in Alaska proves that “negotiations are possible without preconditions, even amidst the ongoing special military operation.” He added that “the initial results of the summit are the restoration of a full mechanism for high-level meetings between Moscow and Washington, without ultimatums or threats,” considering that “the most important point is the confirmation by both sides that the responsibility for achieving future results in negotiations to end hostilities lies with Kyiv and Europe.” Conversely, Trump reiterated yesterday, Saturday, in a post on his “Truth Social” platform account, that “yesterday’s meeting with President Vladimir Putin went very well,” and that he communicated with Volodymyr Zelensky, several European leaders, and NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, with all agreeing that “the best way to end the crisis in Ukraine is to reach a comprehensive peace agreement, not just a ceasefire.”
