The Kremlin mentioned that the meeting between Putin and Trump in Alaska will be near the burial site of Soviet pilots. Next to the Elmendorf-Richardson military base, there is a memorial cemetery where nine Soviet pilots are buried, along with four other individuals who died between 1942 and 1945 while transporting aircraft from the United States under the Lend-Lease Agreement.
Earlier, the Kremlin and the White House announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump would meet in Alaska. Despite the multiple topics expected to be discussed between the two presidents, especially the Ukrainian issue, it is anticipated that potential understandings will include various matters. This is particularly due to the intersecting interests of the two countries in the region and the impact of the Ukrainian crisis on the situation in the Middle East, as well as the Palestinian issue, which remains a focal point of regional tensions.
Experts predict that if an understanding is reached between Putin and Trump in the near term, it may not necessarily be settled in the first meeting on August 15.
