A statement issued by the Kremlin, published on its Telegram channel, stated, “Vladimir Putin’s visit to Turkmenistan has concluded.” The Kremlin’s press office had announced last Wednesday that President Putin would visit the Turkmen capital, Ashgabat, on December 11 and 12 to participate in the forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust.
The press office statement further stated, “Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Ashgabat from December 11 to 12, 2025, to participate in the forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, the International Day of Neutrality, and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.”
Turkmenistan’s neutrality was first internationally recognized in 1995. In 2017, at the initiative of Ashgabat, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring December 12 as the International Day of Neutrality.
