Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov explained that during his trip, Putin will visit industrial production sites in Magadan and hold a meeting with the region’s governor, Sergey Nosov. Peskov added, “After that, he will head to Alaska to address Russian-American affairs.” The distance between Magadan and the city of Anchorage, which will host the Russian-American summit, is estimated to be about 3,000 kilometers, approximately 2,000 miles, with a flight time of around four hours.

This will be Putin’s first visit to Magadan since December 2011 when he was serving as Prime Minister. His first visit to the region was in November 2005, where he chaired a meeting on the development of the gold mining industry, visited a border guard unit in Magadan, and inspected a new sports and leisure complex.
