Qatar Rejects Israeli Attack Apology

The Qatari Foreign Ministry added that the Israeli Prime Minister apologized during the call for the attack and the violation of Qatari sovereignty, promising not to target Qatari territory in the future. The Qatari Foreign Ministry stated in a press release that the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister emphasized “Qatar’s complete and unequivocal rejection of any compromise on its sovereignty under any circumstances,” stressing that “the protection of citizens and residents in Qatar is a top priority.” The Qatari Ministry’s statement clarified that the Foreign Minister welcomed the guarantees to protect Qatar from targeting and the promise not to repeat the attacks, and also confirmed Qatar’s readiness to continue working to end the war in Gaza within the framework of the U.S. President’s initiative.

According to media reports: “Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke by phone this evening (Monday) with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and apologized for the Israeli attack on Doha on September 9th.” Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani stated last Tuesday that the Israeli attack on Qatar was a “flagrant breach of international norms and a heinous act, which we classify as state terrorism.”

Earlier this month, Israel launched several raids on a building in a residential area in the Qatari capital, Doha, where a delegation was conducting talks on the latest U.S. proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. According to the Qatari Interior Ministry, one internal security officer was killed, and several security personnel were injured. The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that “the operation was planned and executed by the Israeli side, and it bears full responsibility.”
