When Rishad Moloobhoy first picked up a golf club as a teenager, it quickly became more than a hobby, leading him to the esteemed position of Men’s Captain at Jumeirah Golf Estates (JGE).
To Rishad, golf transcends being a mere sport; it serves as a means to connect people globally.
As a third-generation leader of a global business, Rishad moved to Dubai to oversee the family’s international ventures. In 2009, when Jumeirah Golf Estates opened its membership, Rishad eagerly joined. “I sent my cheque the first day, becoming the club’s inaugural member,” he fondly recalls.

As Men’s Captain today, he views his role as the pinnacle of his golf journey, a duty he fulfills with humility and enthusiasm.
Rishad’s captaincy is marked by collaboration and creativity. He initiated a unique partnership with England’s prestigious Wentworth Club, creating something special.
“I suggested a cross-club exchange: JGE would send a team to Wentworth’s annual tournament, and Wentworth would visit Dubai for the DP World Championship,” he explained.
“This exchange will feature annual 12-a-side friendly matches, fostering international camaraderie annually. I aimed to create a lasting bond between the clubs.”

Beyond international relations, Rishad is devoted to JGE’s golf community, working closely with Lady Captain Tanya Harrison to create valuable experiences for members and staff.
He has championed initiatives supporting junior members and behind-the-scenes staff, raising funds through captain’s events, auctions, and dinners. A notable initiative includes an auction of top golfers’ autographs, with proceeds benefiting junior golfers. Rishad is committed to honoring the unsung heroes who make JGE a vibrant golfing destination.

Off the golf course, Rishad channels similar passion into horse racing, a pursuit spanning decades. He owns several successful horses in India, including Bangalore Derby winners and 2000 Guineas champions.
While he appreciates Dubai’s racing scene, he remains captivated by Indian racing traditions.
Despite his numerous achievements, whether playing at prestigious courses worldwide, winning tournaments with golfing legends, or celebrating racing successes, Rishad stays humble.
“I prefer to work quietly,” he says, focusing on making an impact and building a legacy rather than seeking recognition.
Golf was his first love, but service, teamwork, and a deep passion for the JGE community define him today.
