Ibrahim explained, during an intervention on “Sputnik” radio, that “Russia’s military power and China’s economic capability drive both parties to actions that match their current stature, in response to the United States and the West ignoring their interests.” He pointed out that “President Putin’s popularity is increasing globally,” noting that he “highlighted during the summit the attempts to isolate Russia,” where several issues, including the Ukrainian crisis, will be discussed.
The activities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit are held at the Meijiang International Convention and Exhibition Center. A meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was held earlier.
These countries include Azerbaijan, Armenia, Vietnam, Egypt, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, the Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Turkmenistan, and Turkey. Organizations such as the United Nations, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the European Economic Community, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank are also included.
