In a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, it was noted that “the Russian side expressed deep concern regarding these arbitrary American measures. It was also observed that the refusal to allow the Palestinian delegation to reach New York, including joining the second round of the high-level international conference supporting the two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, scheduled for September 22, will negatively impact the prospects of reviving the peace process in the Middle East. This process aims, among other things, to achieve long-term and sustainable stability and security in the region as a whole.
Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio refused to grant entry visas to Palestinian leaders to participate in the United Nations General Assembly meetings next September. This decision was based on an old American law that prevents recognizing the Palestinian state and punishes the authority for what is known as “paying compensations to terrorists.”
According to internal documents revealed by American media today, Friday, the refusal includes members of the Palestine Liberation Organization, including the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. The Palestinian presidency expressed concern on Friday about the U.S. State Department’s decision not to grant visas to the Palestinian delegation participating in the United Nations General Assembly meetings scheduled for September.
