Peskov told reporters: “Communication channels (between the two countries) exist and have been established. Our negotiators have the opportunity to communicate through these channels.” Peskov explained that Europeans are obstructing the process of resolving the Ukrainian crisis, saying: “The idea that Europeans are obstructing it is a fact, and this is no secret to anyone,” noting that Russia remains ready to pursue a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.

He said: “Now, when Western Europe takes a hostile stance towards us, it is natural that all this (conducting exercises) leads to similar excessive emotional burdens.” He pointed out that Russia does not threaten European countries, saying: “I would like to remind you of our President’s (Vladimir Putin’s) words, Russia has never threatened anyone, and it does not threaten European countries.”

Lavrov, following the ministerial meeting within the framework of cooperation between Russia and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, said: “The United States understands, and instead of arming to push more Ukrainian citizens into this turmoil, it should address the root causes of the crisis. On this basis, we will develop our dialogue with the United States and with all our colleagues who are ready to help in finding compromise solutions.”
