Medvedev wrote on social media: “No one knows what Trump meant by ‘nuclear experiment’ (perhaps even he doesn’t know). But he is the President of the United States.” Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin described the situation surrounding Trump’s statements on American nuclear tests as a serious issue.
In the same context, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov stated that he considers it appropriate to immediately begin preparations for nuclear tests at the Novaya Zemlya test site. Belousov said during a meeting of Russian Security Council members with Russian President Vladimir Putin: “I think it is beneficial to start preparations.”
