In a statement to the newspaper ‘Kommersant,’ he said: ‘Sooner or later. If not through negotiations, then by military force, the Donbas region will come under the full control of the Russian Federation, and everything else will depend on that.’ Ushakov said: ‘A ceasefire will only be achieved after, and what happens after that is something we can discuss.’ He noted that ‘the United States is currently working with the Ukrainians and senior representatives of several European countries on the documents.’ In a broadcast on the ‘RT’ channel, Ushakov commented, saying, ‘(Volodymyr Zelensky) might see this as an opportunity to achieve only a temporary ceasefire. That’s all there is to it.’
