In a briefing with the Norwegian Foreign Minister and the European Peace Envoy, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Bin Farhan stated that Saudi Arabia is engaged with America to end the war in Gaza, emphasizing that the two-state solution is the way to ensure security and peace. He pointed out that Riyadh has made clear to U.S. President Donald Trump the risks of Israel annexing any part of the West Bank, reminding that 159 countries have announced their recognition of the State of Palestine. Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan expressed his country’s satisfaction with Washington’s focus on ending the war in Gaza, considering it consistent with efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state.
He added that “our international meeting focused on turning the New York Declaration into an executive plan to support the cessation of war, ensure the unity of the West Bank and Gaza, and empower the Palestinian Authority.” Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas confirmed today, Thursday, the readiness of the Palestinian Authority to assume responsibility for managing the Gaza Strip through an administrative committee headed by a minister from the Palestinian government for a temporary period.
In his speech before the United Nations General Assembly, Abbas said: “We announce our readiness to work with Trump, Saudi Arabia, France, the United Nations, and all partners to implement the peace plan approved at the conference held on September 22, paving the way towards a just peace and regional cooperation.”
