According to the specialized energy platform, a Saudi company specializing in renewable energy projects has won the development of the “Noor Midelt 2” and “Noor Midelt 3” projects in partnership with public and private entities in Morocco. The project operates under a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) model within a 30-year power purchase agreement. It contributes to reducing approximately 1.2 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions and meets the increasing demand during peak times.
The first phase of the “Noor Midelt 1” project, with a capacity of about 800 megawatts, faced challenges that led to its implementation delay.
Electricity storage projects in Morocco are planned to be distributed across multiple stations in vital areas of the kingdom, including Kenitra, Settat, Tetouan, Tit Mellil, Khenifra, and Khouribga. Many countries worldwide are increasingly relying on renewable energy sources, especially solar energy, to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and obtain cleaner energy at a lower cost.
