This support aims to enhance financial inclusion and drive sustainable development, in addition to supporting economic recovery efforts in Syria. In August, Saudi Arabia and Syria signed seven agreements, a move that will strengthen cooperation between the two countries and contribute to the development of Syria’s energy sector in the fields of electricity, oil, and gas.
According to the “Energy” platform, these agreements include cooperation in electricity projects, transmission and distribution stations, geophysical and geological surveys, oil field services, well drilling and maintenance, technical training, workforce development, and providing integrated solutions for the development and management of oil and gas fields.
In July, Saudi Arabia signed investment agreements with Syria exceeding $5 billion. This initiative was part of a visit by Saudi Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih to the Syrian capital, Damascus, leading a delegation of more than 150 representatives from both the public and private sectors. The Saudi Ministry of Investments previously stated that the investments will cover various sectors, including real estate, infrastructure, telecommunications and IT, transport and logistics, industry, tourism, energy, trade and investment, healthcare, human resources, and financial services.
