Edgar Davids, the former star of the Netherlands and Juventus, and John Terry, the ex-captain of the England national team and Chelsea FC, are set to clash at Al Maktoum Stadium in Al Nasr Club on November 30. They will lead the Kings XI and Hedge & Sachs teams, respectively, featuring a lineup of some of the most renowned international football legends in the “Legends Cup,” held in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council.
Details of the upcoming event were announced during a press conference at Al Nasr Club, attended by Sheikh Khalifa bin Saeed bin Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktum, owner of Kings XI, along with Edgar Davids, captain of Kings XI; John Terry, captain of Hedge & Sachs; Marouane Fellaini, former Belgian star and Manchester United player; Ali Omar Al Balushi, Director of Sports Events Management at the Dubai Sports Council; Mohammed Moussa, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, and Shevanch Ranjit Malik from Hedge & Sachs.
Sheikh Khalifa expressed his excitement about participating in the tournament, stating, “I am delighted to be part of this tournament’s success, as sports form an essential part of our community’s development. Dubai’s sports scene continues to thrive, attracting international organizers and players. I am committed to bringing outstanding athletes to represent our team, aiming for victory and offering fans an event worthy of Dubai’s global sports reputation.”

Ali Omar Al Balushi highlighted that hosting the tournament in Dubai for a second consecutive year demonstrates the emirate’s status on the international events map and its appeal to global football stars for networking and entertaining fans. “The continuation of the tournament reinforces the success of the first edition and ensures all resources are provided for a successful sporting event. Our vibrant community, comprised of over 200 nationalities, along with our outstanding facilities and quality of life, motivates everyone to enjoy various events,” he remarked, praising Al Nasr Club for its cooperation in hosting the upcoming match at the iconic Al Maktoum Stadium.
John Terry shared his enthusiasm for participating in the event, stating, “I am thrilled to be part of this event in Dubai, a place I have visited multiple times over the years and where I spend much of my holiday time with my family.” He added, “The Legends Cup is a chance to play in a match that unites stars I’ve faced in various tournaments. I look forward to playing at this exceptional stadium before wonderful fans. I take pride in maintaining my fitness through regular training, and I’m ready to approach this match with a lot of enthusiasm, especially since my team’s colors are blue, reminiscent of the Chelsea jersey I wore for many years. I hope we can inspire future generations to achieve athletic success and encourage them to engage in sports.”
Edgar Davids expressed his eagerness to participate in the legendary match and play against John Terry’s team before a fantastic audience in Dubai, promising fans an exciting and enjoyable match. “We assure the audience that we will deliver a game worth watching, bringing them joy, and we aim for an entertaining competition while showcasing the beauty of Dubai through this tournament.”

Meanwhile, Marouane Fellaini reflected on the unique experience of playing alongside “veteran” John Terry. “I’ve known Terry for a long time and faced him numerous times in the Premier League when I played for Everton and Manchester United while he was at Chelsea. These encounters were always highly competitive, and now I have the opportunity to compete alongside such a great player as John Terry and all the stars on both teams. I love Dubai and am thrilled to be part of this match for Hedge & Sachs.
