In Rajasthan’s Bharatpur, police have filed an FIR against Bollywood icons Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, following a man’s accusation of being deceived after purchasing a faulty Hyundai Alcazar SUV.

The actors, known for hits like Om Shanti Om, Pathaan, and Jawan, are Hyundai’s brand ambassadors in India.

The FIR, crucial for legal proceedings in India, was registered at Mathura Gate police station due to a complaint by advocate Kirti Singh. He bought the SUV for ₹23.97 lakh (approximately Dh100,420) from a Haryana dealership, as reported by the Press Trust of India.

Singh claims the vehicle developed major technical issues shortly after purchase, particularly while accelerating or overtaking. “The car vibrates, speed stalls, and the engine system malfunctions, endangering my family and me,” he stated, criticizing the company’s failure to resolve these issues despite several follow-ups.

He named the actors as “accused” for endorsing the brand, alleging their promotions misled buyers.

Singh approached the court after police initially refused his complaint. Following court orders, the Mathura Gate police filed the case on August 25 under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita, as reported by the Hindustan Times citing Bhaskar English.

The actors have not yet responded to the allegations.

Shah Rukh Khan recently won a National Film Award for his 2023 film Jawan, where he played dual roles alongside a notable cast including Nayanthara and Padukone.

Khan’s next project is Siddharth Anand’s King, with rumors suggesting Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Padukone may join the cast, though no official confirmation has been made.
