The UAE news agency ‘WAM’ reported that during the meeting, the two sides discussed the current regional developments and the international community’s efforts to end the war in the Gaza Strip. Al Nahyan emphasized the urgent need to end the bloody war in the region and work towards achieving a permanent and sustainable ceasefire to preserve innocent lives and put an end to the tragic humanitarian suffering experienced by civilians in Gaza.
Al Nahyan also affirmed the United Arab Emirates’ support for international efforts to release all hostages and detainees, while simultaneously stressing the importance of unifying global efforts to confront extremism and terrorism in all its forms, ensuring the protection of civilians from all parties.
The UAE Foreign Minister pointed out that the difficult humanitarian conditions in Gaza require all possible efforts to facilitate the unimpeded and continuous entry of humanitarian aid. In the same context, Al Nahyan reiterated his country’s steadfast approach and support for all initiatives aimed at establishing a comprehensive and just peace in the region, based on the two-state solution, meeting the aspirations of the Palestinian and Israeli peoples and the region’s populations towards a future of lasting security and stability.
It is noteworthy that the UAE Foreign Ministry had summoned the Israeli ambassador, Yossi Shelley, to reprimand him following the Israeli attack on the Qatari capital, Doha. Earlier this month, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that Qatar threatened to respond to Israel’s violation of its sovereignty concerning a residential building housing Hamas leaders, which drew international attention, although the fate of these leaders is still unknown.
