The Syrian news agency “SANA” reported, citing a security source: “Syrian security forces and American forces were fired upon near the city of Palmyra during a joint field patrol.” It noted that traffic on the Deir ez-Zor-Damascus international road was temporarily halted following the incident, coinciding with intensive aircraft activity in the region. It explained that American helicopters intervened to evacuate the injured to the Al-Tanf base after the shooting incident.
