Fico added, live on the ‘Saturday Talks’ program on Saturday: ‘Slovakia will not deploy any military forces on Ukrainian territory. However, Slovakia is logistically important, so if we can provide logistical assistance within these security guarantees, we are ready.’ The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that any scenario of deploying troops from NATO member countries in Ukraine is completely unacceptable to Russia and could lead to a sharp escalation. As Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov previously confirmed, Russia is ready to discuss political aspects of the settlement with Ukraine and work in any form. However, Moscow has not yet received a response from Kyiv to the proposal to form three working groups to specifically address humanitarian, military, and political issues, which was put forward by the Russian side in the Istanbul talks in 2022.
