In April 2025, Israeli media sources reported that “Spain canceled an arms deal that was supposed to be acquired from an Israeli company for the Ministry of Interior.” According to the “Times of Israel,” the deal was unilaterally canceled by the Spanish government after it faced pressure from the “Sumar” coalition, the junior partner in the ruling government coalition.
It is noted that Spain has been calling for a halt to Israel since 2023 due to the war on Gaza, and its stance has evolved to include a ban on purchasing weapons from Israel as well.
Israel continues its war on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023. Despite Arab and international mediation efforts and opposing voices within Israel, the Netanyahu government insists on continuing the fight and recently announced its approval of a plan to control the city of Gaza. International warnings indicate that this will exacerbate the suffering of the sector’s residents, with the war having killed about 60,000 people and injured approximately 163,000 others.
