According to Sudanese News – SONA, Al-Burhan observed the level of services provided to the displaced and emphasized the prevailing spirit of social solidarity in Sudanese society. He pointed out the state’s focus on addressing the issues of the displaced and enabling them to live with dignity. He added that the government places the issue of the displaced at the top of its priorities, highlighting the suffering they face and the ‘violations they suffered at the hands of the Rapid Support Forces in El Fasher.’

On October 26, the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces announced their full control over El Fasher city in the Darfur region in the west of the country after fierce battles. However, the Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, asserted that the army’s withdrawal from the city was to avoid further destruction. Observers believe that the army would not have withdrawn from such a strategic city without a decisive military defeat.

The ‘Rapid Support’ also announced earlier its control over the strategic city of Bara in North Kordofan after battles with Sudanese army forces. However, the spokesman for the Sudan Liberation Army Movement, Sadiq Ali Al-Nour, denied to Sputnik agency the validity of the forces’ announcement of regaining full control of Bara city.

In April 2023, intense and widespread clashes erupted between the Sudanese army forces and the Rapid Support Forces in various parts of Sudan, with both sides attempting to control vital headquarters. Arab, African, and international parties mediated a ceasefire, but these efforts failed to achieve a permanent ceasefire.
