The Sudanese Presidential Council announced this Saturday evening that the ‘Founding Sudan Coalition’ had declared the formation of a Presidential Council for a transitional government led by ‘Hemedti’ during a meeting in Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state. The announcement of the Presidential Council’s establishment took place last July, with Mohamed Al-Ta’ayishi chosen as the head of the transitional government. Meanwhile, the coalition announced the appointment of Abdulaziz Adam Al-Hilu, head of the People’s Movement, as Vice President of the Presidential Council.

It is noteworthy that on the 13th of this month, the United Nations Security Council condemned attempts to establish a parallel governing authority in areas controlled by the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan. It warned that this step threatens the unity of the country and the integrity of its territory, fueling the ongoing conflict and deepening the humanitarian crisis.

In an official statement, the council firmly rejected the announcement by the ‘Founding Sudan Coalition,’ supported by the Rapid Support Forces, to form a parallel government led by Mohamed Hassan Al-Ta’ayishi as Prime Minister, with a Presidential Council headed by Rapid Support Forces leader Mohamed Hamdan (Hemedti) and his deputy Abdulaziz Al-Hilu, leader of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North.

Arab, African, and international parties have mediated to halt the fighting, but these mediations have not succeeded in reaching a permanent ceasefire.
