Survey Reveals Rising Support for Local Authority

The survey, conducted between July 11 and 25, 2025, on a sample of 2,000 people, showed that 68% of respondents believe that local authorities are more effective compared to the central government in Paris.

In a related context, analysts pointed out that these results reflect growing public frustration with central government intervention, especially after the recent protests in November 2024 against central tax policies.

Additional reports from ‘Le Figaro’ indicated that support for federalism is rising, particularly in southern regions like Provence and Occitania, where residents are demanding more economic autonomy.

This survey comes at a time when the European Union is engaged in discussions about reforming the administrative structures of its member states, which may prompt France to review its current system if popular support continues.
