In a press statement yesterday, Monday, the authority said: “Based on continuous efforts and in response to the calls of Syrians in Libya, Syrian Airlines will operate flights until the necessary arrangements for regular operation are completed.” The head of the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority, Ashhad Al-Sulaybi, revealed in a press conference last week that direct flights between Syria and Libya will resume starting next week as follows: Damascus/Tripoli – Benghazi, Aleppo/Tripoli – Benghazi. Departures have been ongoing since the beginning of this year after the airport was fully rehabilitated following its closure after the departure of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government on December 8th of last year. Activity has gradually returned under technical, security, and logistical procedures overseen by the interim authorities in Syria.
