Al-Shibani’s statements were made during a panel discussion at the Doha Forum, where he emphasized that “Syrian diplomacy is clear and transparent, aiming to build a wide network of friends without engaging in political axes.” He stressed that Syria’s internal stability is linked to the security of the region as a whole.

The Syrian minister spoke about the challenges the government faced during its first year, saying that what has been achieved “requires a lot of work ahead, despite the limited capabilities and the heavy legacy of the previous regime,” according to Syria TV. He stated, “It is not possible to reach a security agreement with Israel while it occupies new parts of Syria.”

He added that Tel Aviv must “stop interfering in Syrian affairs and not bet on sects or groups within the country.” On the first anniversary of the departure of the former Syrian president’s regime, Bashar al-Assad, the Foreign Minister of the interim Syrian government, Asaad Al-Shibani, asserted at the Doha Forum that the government is “not satisfied with the current situation,” explaining that “the Syrian people deserve better.”

He mentioned that the authorities have managed to rebuild trust between the citizen and the state, describing this as “a significant capital.” The minister pointed out that he was surprised by the extent of deterioration within the official institutions, but he considered what Syria has achieved as “an accomplishment made by the Syrians themselves.” He confirmed that his country seeks balanced relations with everyone amid an international will supporting its stability, noting that America now classifies Syria as a “partner state.”
