During his participation in a panel discussion at the Doha Forum 2025, held in the Qatari capital under the theme “Establishing Justice: From Promises to Tangible Reality,” Shar’ said, “Israel is working to export crises to other countries and escape the massacres it commits in the Gaza Strip, justifying everything with security concerns, while Syria, since liberation, has sent positive messages to lay the foundations for regional stability.
Shar’ added, “We are working with active countries worldwide to pressure Israel to withdraw from the territories it occupied after December 8, 2024, and all countries support this demand.” He continued, “Syria insists on Israel’s commitment to the 1974 disengagement agreement, and there are many questions about the demilitarized zone requirement, as who will protect this area if there is no presence of the Syrian army.”
Shar’ also mentioned that the previous regime “left us with many conflicts and used sects against each other, but since the beginning of the battle to deter aggression, we have prioritized forgiveness and reconciliation for a secure and sustainable future for the Syrian people.”
Shar’ considered that “Syria has transitioned from one form of governance to another that is unlike it after the success of the popular revolution, and despite some issues that occurred, Syria is on a positive path towards stability and economic growth.”
Shar’ pledged to hold accountable those who committed crimes (in the coastal and Sweida massacres), stating, “Conflicts occurred, and we formed fact-finding committees and received international committees, and we are working on prosecuting those responsible for the crimes in the coast and Sweida.”
