The statement from the Autonomous Administration indicated that it is “ready to participate in the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2254 and the formation of a comprehensive transitional governing body.” It continued, “We consider Security Council Resolution 2254 the only framework to achieve a true political transition in Syria.” The statement also called for “the cessation of military operations and threats from any party.”
In the same context, the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday the death of a soldier during clashes between transitional government forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) east of Aleppo province in northern Syria.
In March, the SDF signed an agreement in Damascus to join Syrian state institutions, without specifying how the SDF forces would be integrated with the Syrian army. The SDF wishes to join as a single bloc, whereas Damascus wants the forces to join individually.
