Theft at the Louvre Museum: Jewelry Stolen

French Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, wrote on the “X” platform: “A theft occurred this morning at the opening of the Louvre Museum.” Dati added: “There are no reports of injuries. I am on-site with museum staff and the police.” The Louvre Museum administration wrote on the “X” platform that it will be closed today for “exceptional reasons,” without providing further details. According to initial investigations, the thieves, who were fully masked, managed to reach the museum located on the banks of the Seine River, where construction work was underway. They used a freight elevator to directly access the targeted room in the Apollo Gallery, as reported by French media. After breaking the windows, two thieves entered while their third accomplice stayed outside. The thieves stole nine pieces from the Napoleon and Empress jewelry collection, including a necklace, a brooch, a tiara, and others.
