Trump Announces No Tariffs on Gold

Washington – Sputnik. In a post on the platform ‘Truth Social,’ Trump stated: ‘No tariffs will be imposed on gold,’ without providing further details.

Trump’s announcement follows a release from the US Customs indicating that ‘one hundred ounces (2.8 kilograms) will be subject to tariffs.’

US President Donald Trump announced today, Thursday, the implementation of reciprocal tariffs, amidst efforts by several countries to secure exemptions from these tariffs and the repercussions of Washington’s stringent trade policy.

Goods from 39 countries, in addition to EU members, are subject to a 15% tariff, according to a list published by the White House last week.

In April, the White House indicated that smartphones, laptops, and other consumer electronics would be exempt from additional tariffs on imports from China and other Asian countries.

The exemptions also covered energy sectors, gold bullion, and some basic metals, while other imports such as steel, aluminum, pharmaceuticals, and copper were excluded from the new tariffs imposed, as they are covered by different tariff orders.
