Trump, speaking at an event held at the Pentagon (the US Department of Defense) to commemorate the 24th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, said: “I am pleased to announce that I will be awarding Charlie Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom soon after his passing. The date of the ceremony will be announced, and I can guarantee you one thing, which is that we will have a very large crowd at the celebration.” The US President also described the late Charlie Kirk as “a giant of his generation, a champion of freedom, and an inspiration to millions of people.” The Medal of Freedom is considered the highest civilian award in America. Kirk passed away yesterday, Wednesday, in the hospital from a gunshot wound to his neck during an event at Utah Valley University. Trump described his death as “a difficult moment for the nation” and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
