Trump on Gaza Aid and Humanitarian Crisis

Trump expressed concern to American media about reports of famine in the region. However, he accused Hamas of ‘stealing and selling humanitarian aid entering Gaza.’ In a related context, Trump praised without specifying the nature of his work, noting that he has not yet received any briefing regarding his recent visit to Gaza. When asked about the possibility of moving from a gradual agreement to a comprehensive one concerning the Gaza crisis, Trump refused to provide details, saying only: ‘You will see soon.’

Trump’s statements come after the US special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Whitkoff, announced today, Friday, that he spent more than five hours inside the Gaza Strip, trying to formulate a plan to facilitate the delivery of aid to the region and to better understand the situation there. He added: ‘The purpose of the visit was to give President Donald Trump a clear understanding of the humanitarian situation and to help formulate a plan to deliver food and medical aid to the residents of Gaza.’

The White House Press Secretary, Caroline Levitt, stated yesterday, Thursday, that Steve Whitkoff and the US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, will visit the Gaza Strip today, Friday, to address the humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian sector by inspecting aid distribution sites and formulating a plan to deliver more food. Israel has closed all crossings with the region for months, preventing the entry of most food and medical aid, which has led to the spread of famine.
