During the Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the White House’s South Lawn, Trump said, “We have to stop this. We are working on it very hard.” The American president added that the conflict in Ukraine will eventually be resolved, noting that steps have already been taken.
Witkoff and Kushner were received at the Kremlin on Tuesday, where the main features of the American peace plan were discussed, without reaching a final settlement. Both parties agreed to continue working and not to disclose details of the session. The Russian delegation included Kirill Dmitriev, Director of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, along with Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov.
Before heading to Moscow, the American delegations met with representatives from Ukraine. According to Western media, the talks in Florida included issues of land exchange, security guarantees, and the impossibility of Ukraine joining NATO, without reaching a final agreement. Media reports also mentioned that the American delegation had planned to visit a European country to meet with Vladimir Zelensky after the meeting with Putin, but the meeting was later canceled.
Zelensky said today that preparations are underway for a new meeting between his delegation and Trump’s representatives.
