Trump added that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin “supports this plan, along with support from Arab and Islamic countries.” The Axios website reported that Trump presented a 21-point peace plan proposal regarding Gaza to Arab and Muslim leaders last Tuesday. The plan is supposed to involve regional partners providing security guarantees to ensure “Hamas” and other factions in Gaza comply with their commitments, and that Gaza no longer poses a “threat” to Israel or its people. The plan also includes the United States working with Arab and other international partners to establish a temporary international stabilization force, which will immediately deploy to oversee security in the sector. This force will develop and train a Palestinian police force to serve as a long-term internal security body. The plan also states that “Israel will not occupy or annex Gaza, and the Israeli army will gradually hand over the territories it currently occupies, with alternative security forces taking control and stabilizing the sector.” On September 16, Israel launched an intensive military operation in Gaza City, including a ground incursion and heavy bombardment, stating that “the aim of the operation is to control Gaza and eliminate the Hamas movement.” The ceasefire agreement between Israel and “Hamas” was supposed to continue once the first phase, which ended on March 1, was extended, or enter its second phase, but disputes between Israel over the next steps prevented that. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that the Gaza Strip is witnessing a “humanitarian disaster,” while the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed the need to end the war in Gaza and launch Israeli-Palestinian negotiations aimed at achieving a two-state solution, establishing an independent Palestinian state that coexists peacefully and securely with Israel.
