American media reported statements made by Trump at a White House press conference, where he said he would ensure that San Francisco and Seattle are safe. He added that the cities are “run by crazy leftist extremists who do not know what they are doing,” according to his description. Lumen Field in Seattle is set to host six matches in the World Cup finals, as is Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, which is about an hour away from San Francisco.

Trump once again threatened to send federal forces to Chicago, as he has already done in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. He promised that Chicago would be safe for the World Cup, noting that the city is not hosting any matches. It is noteworthy that in the middle of this month, Trump announced that he might reinstate the national emergency declaration in Washington, D.C., if the local police refuse to cooperate with immigration law enforcement authorities.

In a post on the Truth Social platform, he explained that his previous executive order contributed to reducing crime rates in the area, according to American media. Trump warned that the lack of cooperation from local police with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) could cause crime to rise again. Last month, Trump pledged to expel the homeless from the U.S. capital and imprison criminals, despite the Washington mayor’s confirmation that there is no current rise in crime rates.

This step is controversial, as Trump used it in Los Angeles to deal with immigration protests despite opposition from local officials, according to Western media. The White House refused to clarify the legal authority Trump would use to expel people from Washington. The Republican president only controls federal lands and buildings in the city.
