This statement came following Fidan’s participation in the ministerial preparatory meeting for the extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League, which is scheduled to be held today, Monday, according to reports from Turkey’s Anadolu Agency.
Fidan explained: “The countries in the region are not only facing a Palestinian-Israeli conflict, but also Israeli expansionist policies,” emphasizing that “Turkey stands alongside Qatar in these difficult times.”
The Turkish Foreign Minister continued: “Israel has not been content with the genocide in Gaza and the occupation of Palestinian lands but is also seeking at the expense of the region’s countries,” adding, “Arab and Islamic countries will discuss diagnosing this problem and ways to mobilize the international community to counter it.”
Israel has been continuing its war on the Gaza Strip since October 2023, a war that has resulted in about 64,000 Palestinian deaths and around 163,000 injuries. Israel also conducts repeated airstrikes on several countries in the region, most notably Lebanon, Yemen, and Syria, in addition to its war against Iran, which lasted 12 days.
