The U.S. Department of the Treasury issued a statement on Wednesday, stating: “To the extent necessary to obtain authorization, and except as set forth in paragraph (b) of this general license, all transactions prohibited under the Russian Harmful Foreign Activities Sanctions Regulations (31 CFR Part 587 – RHSR), or Ukraine/Russia-related Sanctions Regulations (31 CFR Part 589 – URSR), are permitted if incidental and necessary to attend or support meetings in the state of Alaska between the governments of the United States and the Russian Federation.” The statement added that this extends “until 12:01 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on August 20, 2025.”
