The UAE is advancing towards a smarter parking experience by implementing barrier-free, ticketless parking systems in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
This initiative employs cutting-edge technologies like automatic license plate recognition, AI-driven traffic management, and automated payment systems to alleviate congestion, streamline vehicle flow, and enhance convenience for drivers.
By eliminating the need for traditional barriers, these systems not only save drivers’ time but also optimize traffic flow in bustling commercial and urban areas.

Here’s how the implementation is progressing across various locations:
Dubai
Mall of the Emirates
On February 3, the Mall of the Emirates launched its barrier-free parking system. Visitors were notified about the new system, which was first introduced at Deira City Centre in January. Partnering with Parkin PJSC under a five-year contract, Majid Al Futtaim aims to provide a smooth entry and exit experience without traditional barriers.
BurJuman Mall
In May, BurJuman Mall’s ticketless paid parking system became operational, joining other major Dubai shopping destinations with this advanced solution.
Al Aweer Central Fruit and Vegetable Market
A similar system is being implemented at the Al Aweer Central Fruit and Vegetable Market, where DP World and Parkin will manage around 2,500 light vehicle spaces and 500 for trucks, using license plate recognition and real-time data to ease congestion and enhance movement for traders.
Seamless parking across key areas
In April, Parkonic added 18 new locations for seamless parking in Dubai, increasing the total to 24. New sites include Union Coop Nad Al Hamar, Heera Beach, Park Islands, and more. Parking at these locations is cashless and ticketless, with Salik providing automatic payment.
Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi is also adopting this technology, with Q Mobility introducing its ‘Zero Barrier AI Parking’ system at Gitex Global 2025. This system integrates smart cameras, automatic license plate recognition, automated payment, and real-time traffic monitoring for a seamless parking experience.
In July, it was announced that more malls in Abu Dhabi would soon offer ticketless parking through a partnership between Salik and Parkonic, with charges automatically deducted from Salik accounts.
The Nation Towers in Abu Dhabi adopted this system on June 20, becoming the fourth location in the capital and sixth in the UAE to implement barrier-free parking.
