UAE Enhances Golden Visa Services for Expats

Marco Fraschetti, an Italian expat residing in the UAE for 23 years, feels a deep personal connection to the country’s recent initiative to offer special consular services for Golden Visa holders.

“The UAE has always welcomed us,” said Marco, who possesses a Golden Visa in the Art and Culture category and collaborates with government bodies. “This time, it feels more than a privilege; it feels like belonging. We are being cared for like citizens.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has introduced dedicated services for Golden Visa holders traveling abroad, including a 24/7 emergency hotline, return documents for lost or damaged passports, and crisis support. Families of Golden Visa holders also benefit from this initiative.

Security beyond borders

Dr. Nahida Amin Ali, a UK citizen and Family Medicine consultant at Burjeel Medical City, noted that these new measures are transformative for frequent travelers.

“Emergencies can arise anywhere, and having a direct number to call alleviates so much stress,” she said. “It’s comforting to know there’s 24/7 assistance available exclusively for Golden Visa holders.”

Dr. Nahida recounted a personal incident highlighting the importance of such services. “A few years ago in Italy, my belongings were stolen. I felt completely lost. Having an emergency hotline and guidance from my host country would have been invaluable.”

She believes this move reflects the UAE’s compassionate leadership. “This country doesn’t just provide opportunities; it offers protection and dignity to its residents. That’s rare and speaks volumes about the nation’s values,” she said.

‘Sign of commitment’

Ravi Menon, an Indian businessman and Golden Visa holder, views the initiative as another reason for his strong connection to the UAE, despite his global business travels.

“The Golden Visa already provided long-term security, but this elevates it further,” he said. “When you’re far from home, facing issues like a lost passport or medical emergency, having a hotline and a return document system makes you feel like your country stands by you.”

He appreciated the inclusion of family members in the new services. “Including family members makes it even more special,” said Menon. “The UAE regards you as part of a family, not just a resident or investor.”
