The UAE Media Council has extended the registration deadline for content creators to secure an Advertiser Permit, initially introduced in July.
Creators now have until January 31, 2026, to apply for the permit, which was originally set to become mandatory later this month.
All individuals sharing advertisements, paid or unpaid, on social media, websites, or apps are required to obtain this permit. This initiative is part of new regulations designed to enhance transparency, professionalism, and consumer protection in digital advertising.

The permit is valid for one year and must be renewed annually. Failure to renew within 30 days post-expiration will result in cancellation.
Applicants need to be at least 18 years old, although exceptions may be made for certain age groups under specific conditions. For those under 18, a legal guardian must hold the activity licence.
To acquire an Advertiser Permit, citizens and residents must obtain a trade licence in electronic media from the appropriate authorities. Visitors to the UAE can obtain an advertiser permit through a licensed agency within the country.
