A Sound Reflecting the Emirates
The UAE National Orchestra’s musical philosophy combines Arabic and Western instruments, not as contrasts, but as partners in creating a cohesive orchestral identity.
Managing Director Sheikha Alia bint Khalid Al Qassimi stated that the Orchestra’s mission is to convey the UAE’s heritage through a modern global perspective. “Rooted in tradition yet forward-thinking, the UAE National Orchestra embodies our nation’s pride and aspirations,” she remarked. “Our sound is uniquely Emirati — crafted, nurtured, and shared across the country.”

Artistic Director and Conductor Amine Kouider described the musical direction as a “dialogue between traditions,” unveiling new meanings when Eastern and Western instruments converge on stage. “Music is a language of understanding,” Kouider expressed. “This interaction creates a sound both rooted and innovative — echoing the UAE’s cultural identity.”

Investing in Emirati Talent
The Orchestra has also launched a 12-month part-time program for Emiratis, providing mentorship, rehearsal participation, and specialized training in music theory, ensemble performance, and instrumental skills. Participants will be compensated.
Sheikha Alia emphasized that nurturing local talent is crucial for the Orchestra’s future. “Fostering Emirati musicians is vital for sustaining the UAE’s musical landscape,” she noted. “This program offers a pathway for young talent to learn, perform, and contribute to the UAE’s cultural future.”

The UAE National Orchestra comprises 60 musicians and 30 vocalists from 30 nationalities, selected from over 3,200 international applicants.
Emiratis constitute 15% of the ensemble, a proportion the Orchestra plans to increase through its dedicated training initiatives.
