Cairo – Sputnik. Qatar, through the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majed Al-Ansari, announced that it will not tolerate the Israeli “reckless” behavior and “continuous tampering” with regional security or any action targeting its security and sovereignty. The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, emphasized that the Israeli attack targeting residential buildings in the Qatari capital, Doha, is a “blatant and unacceptable violation,” affirming the Arab League’s solidarity and support for Qatar in any measures it takes to protect its sovereignty and preserve its security.

The Egyptian presidency confirmed that the Israeli attack on Qatar represents a dangerous precedent and an unacceptable escalation that undermines international efforts aimed at de-escalation. The Egyptian presidency stated in a statement: “Egypt asserts that this attack represents a dangerous precedent and an unacceptable development, and is a direct assault on the sovereignty of the State of Qatar. Egypt views this escalation as undermining international efforts aimed at de-escalation and threatens security and stability in the entire region.” Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, in a phone call with the Emir of Qatar, expressed Egypt’s full solidarity with Doha in facing this flagrant violation of international law and the UN Charter, considering it a “provocative aggression against a brotherly Arab state’s sovereignty.”

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani, in a phone call with the Emir of Qatar, affirmed that the Israeli attack represented a “blatant violation” of Qatar’s sovereignty and a “flagrant breach” of international law and the UN Charter, adding a dangerous escalation to Israel’s attempts to widen the conflict in the region. Al Sudani clarified that Iraq, as the chairman of the Arab summit, called for an urgent meeting of Arab foreign ministers to discuss the Israeli attack and work towards holding a meeting of Arab and Islamic leaders on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meetings in New York this month.

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement that “targeting the Hamas delegation in the Qatari capital, Doha, during ceasefire negotiations confirms that Israel’s goal is to continue the war, not peace.” Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi expressed his strongest condemnation of the “Israeli aggression” on Qatar, emphasizing unconditional support for Doha in any steps it takes against “this aggression.” Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned the attack via the “X” platform, considering it a “flagrant violation of its sovereignty” and called on the international community to stop repeated assaults.

Hezbollah also condemned the targeting of Hamas leaders in Doha, asserting that Israel “does not want a negotiated solution,” and called on Arab and Islamic countries and the international community to act and stop US support for Israel. The Libyan Foreign Ministry warned of “severe consequences” due to Israel’s “sinful aggressions” and “blatant departure” from international law principles and all international norms.

Internationally, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the “blatant violation” of Qatar’s sovereignty, emphasizing in a statement the necessity for all parties to work towards achieving a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. The European Union condemned the Israeli air raid targeting Hamas leaders in Doha and stressed the need to avoid any escalation of the war in the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his solidarity with Qatar on the “X” platform, asserting that the Israeli strikes on Doha are “unacceptable, regardless of their motives.”

The Palestinian Hamas movement announced the failure of the Israeli air raid on the Qatari capital, Doha, to assassinate the targeted movement leaders, noting that “five of the leaders’ escorts, including the son of its political bureau chief Khalil Al-Hayya, were killed due to the raid, in addition to a member of the Qatari security.” The Israeli army announced carrying out an air raid targeting Hamas leaders in the Qatari capital, Doha, stating that these leaders “bear direct responsibility for committing the massacre of October 7 and managing the war against Israel.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Defense Minister issued a joint statement about the arrangement of the assassination operation of Hamas leaders in Doha today, which came after consultation and full support from Israeli security agencies. The Israeli army named the operation targeting several Hamas leaders and negotiators in Doha “Summit of Fire.” This Israeli attack comes days after Israeli Army Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir threatened to eliminate Hamas leaders abroad amid the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, with last year witnessing a series of Israeli assassinations targeting prominent Hamas leaders in the Gaza Strip, Iran, and Lebanon.
