The UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka has proudly earned the Silver Award at the DFA Design for Asia Awards 2025, further enhancing its impressive collection of international recognitions. This award, hosted by the Hong Kong Design Centre, honors exceptional design across Asia, spotlighting projects that embody cultural significance and creativity.

Inspired by the date palm tree, the pavilion’s architectural vision was crafted by the Earth to Ether Design Collective. Featuring ninety rachis columns reaching up to sixteen meters, the structure forms a shaded canopy reminiscent of a tranquil oasis.

This design beautifully embodies the pavilion’s theme, ‘Earth to Ether,’ symbolizing the UAE’s transition from rich heritage to cutting-edge innovation.

Shihab Alfaheem, the UAE’s Ambassador to Japan and Commissioner General of the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, stated: “This award acknowledges the vision and collaboration that brought the UAE Pavilion to fruition. Earth to Ether was realized through a global partnership of UAE, Japanese, and international contributors, all committed to creating a space of significance and cultural exchange.”

He also noted that the award is a tribute to the collaborative effort and a design narrative that mirrors the nation’s values, as well as a testament to the five million visitors who favored the pavilion at the Expo.

The DFA Design for Asia Awards evaluated submissions from over twenty economies, with criteria focusing on creativity, cultural insight, and sustainability. The UAE Pavilion’s recognition underscores its unique architectural expression and its contribution to fostering cultural exchange.

This honor adds to the pavilion’s expanding list of global achievements. Earlier this year, the UAE Pavilion was acclaimed as one of the top three national pavilions at Expo 2025 Osaka by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) for Architecture and Landscape.

Throughout its six-month presence at Expo 2025 Osaka, the UAE Pavilion stood out as a favorite among visitors, attracting over five million guests to experience its narrative.
