Retail is a crucial component of the UAE’s economy, with the industry reaching $145.3 billion last year. Projections indicate a compound annual growth rate of over 5% through 2033.
In Dubai, retail remains the dominant sector, contributing 23% to the GDP, and experienced a 4.5% year-on-year growth in Q1 2025.
“The UAE is a vibrant market for fashion, where global trends intersect with strong local identities, providing opportunities for streetwear brands to shine,” said Shubham Gupta, Founder of Bonkers Corner, a popular unisex streetwear brand from India that recently launched its e-commerce platform in the UAE.
This strategic move signifies Bonkers Corner’s entry into the Middle Eastern market after establishing a strong presence in India with over 15 stores and a significant online footprint. “We’ve seen a rising demand for bold, personalized apparel in the UAE,” Gupta noted. “Launching Bonkers Corner here was a logical step to better serve our community and reflect their desire for creativity, culture, and a fashion-forward mindset.”
Streetwear in the UAE is rapidly evolving, influenced by diverse cultures, allowing agile brands to thrive. Gupta predicts the sector will become more experience-driven in the next three to five years, with brands focusing on creating events, collaborations, and content that foster strong emotional connections. “It’s about identity and belonging, not just fashion,” he added.

Global brand competition is inevitable but positive, indicating a thriving market open to experimentation. “Our ability to create limited editions, bold releases, and pop-culture collections provides agility that larger brands lack,” Gupta said.
Bonkers Corner is pursuing an omnichannel strategy, combining the convenience of e-commerce with the immersive retail experience. “Pop-ups, experiential stores, and strategic partnerships with leading malls will enable sensory engagement with the brand,” Gupta commented.
