Public schools throughout the UAE are gearing up for the end-of-first-term exams for the 2025–2026 school year. They have introduced a policy that doubles student absences between November 10 and 19, in accordance with the Ministry of Education’s attendance guidelines.
According to this policy, one day of unexcused absence will count as two, potentially impacting a student’s ability to fulfill passing criteria.

In the past, the double-absence rule applied only to unexcused absences on Fridays. This term, the policy extends to all days leading up to exams, aiming to promote discipline and academic preparedness.
Central exams for the first semester are scheduled from November 20 to December 4, 2025. Due to UAE National Day celebrations, students will take exams until November 27 and then enjoy a six-day break, including the weekend, before resuming on December 4.
To prepare for exams, schools have encouraged students and parents to ensure electronic devices used for online assessments are ready. They emphasized checking devices early and submitting any faulty ones to the school’s technical support for repairs before exams start.
Schools also noted that parents are responsible for repair costs of broken screens, damaged devices, or liquid damage, as well as replacing lost chargers. Additionally, parents and students can download secure browsers on personal devices via official links to ensure a safe and functional test environment.
